"You can measure a programmer's perspective by noting his
attitude on the continuing vitality of FORTRAN."
- Alan Perlis
what are these?
I started using the SAS programming language when I
began work on my
Masters degree in Applied Statistics in
1989.  The majority of my past work as a
statistician has
involved use of SAS.  I still deem myself
proficient in SAS,
although I wouldn't place myself among the top SAS
programmers in the field.

I believe my approach to programming has always been
illustrated by the following quote:

The competent programmer is fully aware of the limited
size of his own skull.  He therefore approaches his task
with full humility, and avoids clever tricks like the plague.
